Brokers originate more than half of all home loans in Australia

Together we’ve reached 25,000 trees!

The Resimac team are proud to announce that we’ve achieved a significant sustainability milestone with the planting of 25,000 trees through our partnership with Australian carbon farming company, Carbon Conscious.

Since 2010, with every new Resimac loan that is settled, a native Mallee Eucalypt tree has been planted in the West Australian Wheatbelt region to counter the build-up of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

The planting of 25,000 trees represents 3.9 million kilograms of CO2 that has been offset under the program.

Resimac CEO, Scott McWilliam, said Resimac’s partnership with Carbon Conscious allows the company to contribute to a more sustainable future.

“We champion and support the Carbon Conscious program as we know it is important to our customers and many Australians that the organisations they engage with support environmental causes and behave in an environmentally responsible fashion.

“When Resimac began the program in 2010, a lot of paper was used for each Resimac home loan application. Since then we have dramatically reduced our use of paper and come a long way towards becoming paperless. Despite this progress, the planting of trees continues to be important as a means to offset the carbon emissions that we as an industry are responsible for,” Mr McWilliam said.

Resimac makes conscious decisions to minimise the company’s impact on the environment. The program is part of Resimac’s ongoing corporate social responsibility program – it doesn’t result in any additional expense for customers. Complementing this are further initiatives like:

  • In December 2018, Resimac became the latest partner of Food Ladder, the world’s first not-for-profit organisation to use environmentally and economically sustainable solutions to address global food insecurity.
  • Resimac recycles its old computer hardware and provides our customers with tips on how to minimise their personal impact on the environment.
  • Resimac also provides carbon conscious tips for homeowners, giving advice on how small changes at home can collectively make a big difference as a community.

Resimac is looking forward to planting more trees to help secure a better future for tomorrow. You can now track in real time how many trees have been planted as a result of the program here.
